Group HR Director

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the largest and most prolific and profitable retailers in the Middle East. Their portfolio is well recognised and respected. They dominate in many sectors including Retail Food within Hypermarket, Convenience, and Discount formats, as well as other sectors including Wholesale, Hospitality and Telecoms. The core business dates back to the 1970’s when they became a leading hypermarket retailer across the Middle East. They were recognised for the quality and the extent of their range of SKU’s, assuring their customers that they would stock any item sourced from anywhere around the globe. They have since become a cash rich organisation looking to compete with global leaders through development and investment in core areas. They require a Group HR Director to strengthen the existing main board with experience in managing HR operations within a number of countries.

Over the last five years they have built up a substantial convenience store arm along with wholesale and restaurant chains. Their investment strategy is becoming more process driven and commercially focused.

The Human Resources Director will play a key role in the development of the business.  As the business expands and diversifies, it will be important to develop a common culture, common expectations and common business practices across all sectors of the group. We are, therefore, seeking a proactive, strategic thinker who can play a cross-functional role in the business rather than traditional, passive HR functionary who just fills vacancies.

Our Expectations:
  • You will be highly educated, probably to degree level, in a relevant discipline.
  • You may have a relevant higher degree, such as an MBA.
  • You will have a strong track record in HR at a senior level for at least one high profile, multi-functional organisation.
  • You will demonstrate the capability to develop and implement common HR policies and practices across the group that will support the group Business Plan and development strategy.
  • You will demonstrate the level of judgment and expertise to select the right senior managers for the right vacancies in all sectors of the group.
  • You can develop and implement a system of training and development across the group for all its employees which will encompass succession planning and career progression.
  • You can develop and implement procedures to monitor the climate and organisational processes across the group and be able, in response, to act as an agent of change within the business in order to enable it to achieve its goals.
  • You can develop and implement a unified group salary structure with the flexibility to meet the different requirements and demands across the range of Middle Eastern countries.
  • You are familiar with such tools as the Hay Salary Survey which will enable you to do this effectively.
The Rewards:
  • A six figure salary with a benefits and bonus package to match.
