Commercial Manager

Our client is in the early stages of a phased expansion across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) region. Having secured financial funding for the expansion program the goal is to become one of the leading Retail chains within the region. The 90 year old retailer currently operates in only two countries within Middle East at present; however, it has an enviable record of entering new markets and securing its target segment. It has achieved it success due to the qualitative values maintained across all its outlets, combined with its flexibility to meet the needs of its varied consumer base with a range of store formats. Our client is progressing expansion opportunities in 11 countries in the MENASA region, and has already signed agreements to open stores in Jordan, Pakistan and Qatar.
 
Their investment strategy is becoming more process driven and commercially focused. They are looking to attract candidates from across the globe for the skills they need for future growth. They are seeking for talented individuals to join the management team at Commercial Management level.  
 
They are looking to recruit a customer focused, commercially driven Manager who feels that now is the right time in there career to control the whole operation rather than just segments of the business. Your communication, training and business management skills are key elements that will be put to the test. You will be prepared and equipped to face and manage the daily challenges that come with Commercial Management of this level. You must have a flexible approach, prepared to travel and implement substantial change within areas of the business. As a corporate, hands-on individual you will be prepared to commit to the business for the foreseeable future to help develop the existing team and to grow as they grow.

Reporting to the General Manager your key responsibility, among other none listed responsibilities:
  • Managing the Trading Department
  • Achieving Sales targets
  • Achieving Gross margin targets
  • Achieving Other Income targets
  • Achieving Consumer Range perception targets
  • Achieving Consumer levels of knowledge of the business

  • Achieving Consumer perceptions of price positioning and promotional positioning
  • Achieving Availability targets
  • Achieving trade working capital targets
  • Maintaining and contributing to team spirit and alignment with the organization
  • Maintaining security and integrity of the Company assets

  • Plan and co-ordinate excellent and effective Promotions
  • Develop the range of company own label
  • Co-ordinate the importation of products for trading
 
As a Commercial Manager you will have held relevant management positions within the retail sector with a minimum of 5 years retail experience. You display a determination to meet customer expectations, a healthy attitude to competition and you are a natural inspirational leader. You have a good eye for detail and potential sales opportunities as well as the ability to not only hit targets, but to exceed them. You must have strong financial and analytical skills with intermediate computer MS Office skills. Having a strong commercial sense and ability to speak English is essential for the role. International experience would be seen as an advantage along with additional languages such as French and Arabic, however, not essential.
