Maintenance Engineer

The core business dates back to the 1970’s when they became a leading hypermarket retailer across the Middle East, recognised for quality and an extensive range of SKU’s sourced from around the globe. They have since become a cash rich organisation looking to compete with global leaders by developing and investing heavily in core areas. The business is now entering its most exciting phase of development with the roll out of stores across the GCC countries. They require Engineering Maintenance Managers to organise that facilities are kept running efficiently and that breakdowns are efficiently managed
 
This will offer the successful candidate a real chance to make a valuable contribution to the growth and continued success of the company.
 
Principal accountabilities will include:
 
  • To manage maintenance staff and ensure the key staff and resources are available.
  • To ensure the proper application of corporate strategic guidelines for maintenance
  • To define the maintenance budget, under the supervision of the E&M Manager
  • To perform periodic assessment of costs versus available budget, taking actions when needed
  • To ensure proper application of policies, procedure and standards for maintenance at stores and offices, and to identify any refinements required by local market, to be approved
  • To develop preventative and ordinary maintenance plans for stores and offices, in coordination with Operations and to supervise correct management of equipment cards for all equipment and stores/office facilities.
  • To assess and select local suppliers, in line with corporate guidelines
  • To ensure technical support to local maintenance and engineering staff in detailing electrical and mechanical requirements and assessing effective operability and costs of equipment
  • To supervise maintenance internal activities and/or third part suppliers
  • To approve resources needs and ensures material and equipment availability
  • To supervise, follow-up and manage energy saving programs
  • To monitor and periodically report on the status of activities to internal customers.
  • To supervise a timely and high quality of service to internal customers and to ensure that work is being performed in compliance with internal standards, contract specifications etc.
  • To supervise the archiving of all catalogues, cut sheets, maintenance manuals and warranties for all systems and equipment and to maintain a list of spare parts
  • To apply best practice in inventory management of materials, equipments and spare parts
 
 
Applications are therefore invited from individuals possessing:
 
  • A degree in a Electromechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in this field, preferably with international experience.
  • Be approachable, work well under pressure, have good attention to detail, be logical, co-operative and organized. 
  • Be prepared to travel regularly throughout the Middle East & North Africa
  • Have strong ability to manage resources, as well as build strong professional relationships
  • Have fluency in written and spoken English. Arabic would be an advantage
  • A very proactive, out-going, engaging personality with experience of contributing and communicating with senior management levels across a range of issues to do with construction.
